Mykel Martin believes that acoustic shows don't have to be coffee shop ballads. Heavily influenced by classic rock and blues, he incorporates everything from Dolly Parton to Aerosmith to Gnarles Barkley in every show. If you want a high-energy acoustic show, send us a message. If you want a beautiful acoustic wedding, send us a message. If you want a full band show that will have toes tapping and boots scooting, send us a message.
A statement from the man himself:
Like most people, I enjoy a variety of music. I believe that talent goes beyond a box of genre, and it should appreciated as such. Growing up in the Hill Country, I got a lot of country music growing up, but found myself obsessed with The Beatles. I spent all my money in high school on classic cars, guitars, and concert tickets. Heavily influenced by classic rock and Stevie Ray Vaughan, I thought I had found my place. Once I moved to San Angelo to attend Angelo State University, I realized that if you want to make money in Texas, you gotta play in a country band. I started playing guitar for Case Hardin in 2016 and we've played everywhere from underground in San Antonio to a rodeo in southern France. I learned a lot of music that I never thought I would be playing, but it has shaped me beyond belief. In 2020, I released my debut record, Midnight Oil, which is 13 tunes that have no business sharing a record with each other. There truly is a little bit of everything on that record, and it was fun to make. That leads me here.
I have always been a big fan of the beach. After Jimmy Buffett died, I dove head first into Radio Margaritaville, and as of late, No Shoes Radio. I so envy the guys that spend their lives playing shows on the water to people that just want to live the life of an islander. My next record, Down in Aransas, is going to be a beach record, inspired by Chesney and Buffett, but also by my travels in the Virgin Islands and Barbados. I truly love listening to every song on this upcoming record, and I can't wait to get it out there.
Things are happening, and I can't wait for you to be there with me.
Let's make some music together.
